About Union, MI - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Union, MI is a small community located in St. Joseph County near the Michigan-Indiana State Line. Union is located approximately 7 miles east of Adamsville, MI along US-12.It is situated 30 minutes to the west of Sturgis, MI and only a 20 minute drive to Elkhart, IN. Union is home to Baldwin Lake and Long Lake with several beautiful homes located nearby.
Union is a very small community with few notable attractions. It is home to Union Market, a bait shop, marina, and two restaurants: George’s Café and Zimmy’s. However, with the presence of Baldwin and Long Lakes in the community, outdoor recreation is extremely popular. Union residents and people from neighboring communities often come to Union to take advantage of fishing, boating, and swimming, especially on warm spring or hot summer days.
This community is found within a humid continental climate zone. Winters tend to be cold and snowy, with average highs in January reaching only the low-30s. Overnight lows can be especially frigid, especially since they only tend to reach the mid-teens. Residents will need to invest in a high quality furnace or heat pump system to keep indoor temperatures warm while also preventing expensive future repairs, as pipes and plumbing can easily freeze in these weather conditions. Still, many Union residents do enjoy the colder weather, which allows them to ice fish and enjoy other cold weather recreational activities on Baldwin or Long Lakes.
Summers in Union are hot and humid. Average high temperatures in July tend to reach the mid-80s, allowing for perfect weather for spending time outdoors. However, warm fronts do sometimes push into the area and bring along temperatures well into the 90s, and on these occasions, most residents will fire up their air conditioning systems. Not only can an energy efficient unit keep a home cool, but it can also help to save on utility expenses.
