About Niles, MI - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Niles, Michigan is a city located near South Bend, Indiana, and it is found within Cass and Berrien counties. As of 2010, the population of this community was roughly 11,600, and it is part of the Niles-Benton Harbor, MI Metro Statistical Area. Niles is found along the banks of the St. Joseph River, and it is located at the site of the French Fort St. Joseph, which was built in 1697. This community was named for Hezekiah Niles, editor of a Baltimore newspaper called the Niles Register, and the community was historically an integral part in helping slaves escape from the south via the Underground Railroad.
Niles is home to several attractions that may be of interest to both visitors and residents of this community. The Saint Joseph River Walk is a popular place to take an evening stroll, while the Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve is a great place for horticulturists to check out some of the local flora. Wonderland Cinema is a budget movie theater that serves as a great destination for family night, and Lehman’s Orchards is a popular destination for visitors who would like to pick their own fruit. Other popular area attractions include the Lavender Hill, Pym Park Golf Course, and Niles Water Sports.
As part of a humid continental climate zone, Niles area residents will experience four seasons throughout the year. Summers tend to be hot and humid, with high temperatures often reaching the mid- to upper-80s. While this may make the region popular for outdoor recreation, it is important that visitors have a cool place to return to after a day outdoors, and a reliable air conditioning system can keep indoor temperatures safe. Likewise, winter weather can be equally dangerous when freezing conditions and heavy snowfall set in, so residents will need to invest in and properly service their home furnace systems to stay warm.
